Here is a color image from Nashville on Spring Break. We went to a metal factory to photograph, but i ended up finding more paper. hmm...
I'm starting a new Studio II final project since I had to scrap the year-long planned creepy late 19th century circus character portraits because of time and money. Bummer. I was looking forward to that, but it didn't take me anywhere for the effort. They would have just been aesthetically pleasing, which is completely unlike me. Now my project is about tears.
One of the most powerful human emotions is crying and is not often explored in photography unless it is a documentary. I'm posing my models in a studio environment directing them into pretending to cry...believably...but hopefully not too painful for my models. I've noticed in the past year that I seem to be a magnet for sad lonely people who are usually miserable inside. For whatever reason, they end up telling me. I don't know if I'm all that different from them, but I can pull things out of people that have taken them years to hide. My models are not these people, but I wanted to know if I can do the same thing with an acquaintance and posing them, almost in a mockery, but respectful. I haven't ironed it all out, but it will be a self-exploratory journey, I'm sure. Challenging, but I'm up for it.
Wish me luck.
