Some New Newsome

This is my favorite thusfar. I took it on my last day shooting under the final bridge i was photographing. It was probably the most peaceful day of my trip. The water was calm and everything was so perfectly beautiful. Personal revelations were flowing in as to why I was photographing the "ugliest" part of Florence. I listened to Joanna Newsome while I photographed this last set. She made the most perfect beautiful music to accompany what I saw. Now that I'm photoshopping all of these images that are due in two weeks, I cannot stop listening to her. She is as earthy, fluid, and reflective as what's shown in my images.

Francesca Woodman

I have decided to feature a female artist regularly on here because i find it particularly inspiring that there are women out there making some fantastic art. It is not just men. Francesca Woodman's work is so so beautiful and a type of imagery i want to try and create in 19th century this semester. She was raised by artists, her brother is also a successful video artist. She studied at RISD and went on a scholarship trip to Rome for a year. Many people have called her a prodigy as she started creating images at 13 that are astoundingly gorgeous. Sadly, as one can tell in her tortured imagery, Francesca had many emotional struggles and ended her life at 22 in New York by throwing herself out of her apartment window. Her images are haunting, pristine, and meticulously stunning.
